How to add a mask to your short text field

To add a custom mask to your short text field, simply go to the settings section on the right side of your field and enter the desired mask in the Field Mask field as shown below.

The mask helps format form responses in a customized way. Here’s how it works:

  • #: Allows any number.
  • @: Allows any letter.
  • *: Allows any number or letter.

Additionally, any other character you include in the mask will remain fixed. This means it will appear exactly as you wrote it.

Example:

If the mask is ##-123-@@-* , the expected format will be:

  • Two numbers (## )
  • The number "123" (fixed)
  • Two letters (@@ )
  • A number or letter (* )

So, the response could look like: 45-123-AB-X.

Here are some examples of possible masks:

SSN- ###-##-####

EIN- ##-#######

Passport Number- *********

ZIP Code- #####
